What are the Little Talks?

Author and social commentator Alda Sigmundsdóttir is known for her keen and witty observations about Iceland and the Icelanders. She now presents her sharp, humorous insights into Icelandic life, culture and history in a series of lively talks, running in July 2018. During her Little Talks she is happy to answer audience questions – making the event less presentation – more conversation. Little Talks – Iceland Demystified is a must-attend event for anyone interested in Icelandic history and contemporary culture.

Who is Alda?

Born in Iceland and raised in Canada, Alda Sigmundsdóttir returned to Iceland as an adult and has since become one of her country’s most astute commentators on Icelandic affairs. She is the author of eight books about Iceland, on topics ranging from contemporary issues such as the tourism explosion and the 2008 economic meltdown, to Icelandic history, mythology and culture. English is Alda’s first language and she has written and commented extensively on Icelandic affairs in the international media. Alda has given talks on the subject of Iceland worldwide, and now brings her expertise to a series of weekly talks in Reykjavík, running through July and August 2018.
